Former Action 4 Employment (A4e) employee Elizabeth Orsman has been jailed for fraud with a total value of £15,833.

1. Benefit Fraud

A BENEFITS cheat who continued swindling money after she was convicted of fraud, and even made false claims when she was working to help the unemployed, has been jailed.

Elizabeth Orsman, 44, of Townfields, Sandbach, was sentenced to 49 weeks in prison after admitting falsely claiming a total of £15,833 in Jobseeker’s Allowance, Incapacity Benefit and Council Tax Benefits

The court heard she failed to notify either Congleton Borough Council or the DWP that she had worked for five separate businesses including Uttoxeter Race Course, where she was paid cash in hand, and Action for Employment in Crewe where she was a trainer helping unemployed people find jobs.

By working for Action for Employment, which is contracted by the DWP, Orsman was falsely claiming benefits while working for the Government department that paid them out.

She was jailed for seven weeks for each of seven charges of fraud, including making false statements and failing to declare employment, with the sentences to run consecutively.

Where do A4e get their staff?  Does this add credibility to the A4e widespread fraud allegations?

2. Double Standards

We reported recently that A4e were forced to pay back over £15,000 after they were discovered of defrauding the system.

As an individual, this benefit thief was guilty of defrauding around the same amount of money, in this case she went to jail for 49 weeks as she was a claimant.  On the other end of the table, A4e and/or any of its employees involved in this fraud have NOT been prosecuted for it.  Why not?

    Funny A4e photos says:

It seems no matter how many times fraud is exposed at an A4e office, unless it can proved to be part of a wider conspiracy involving A4e’s head office. It will just be dismissed as a rogue manager at one office.
The story in the Crewe Chronicle about the woman convicted of benefit fraud whilst working for A4e and others contains an error: It says she worked for the department paying benefits i.e. DWP. Which is a mistake, A4e ia a private company not a government department.

The A4e in London I go to is a SHAM – I just found out today that a load of the staff there are out of work ACTORS/ WANNABES etc!!!! That kind of makes sense I guess – the staff do seem rather nosey and voyeristic, and I often notice them staring at me or other customers. They also seem to get into very weird, personal conversations with you, and end up staring at you in a weird way. Dont feel very happy being forced to sit in a room for up to 5 hours being stared at and having my personal files and information accessed by staff who are actually wannabe actors – I somehow feel my privacy is being invaded here!

This A4e is basically run is very incompetent way – you have to sit there for hours, they forget you are there and go home without seeing you, leaving you sitting there – or they keep having meetings and send you home just minutes after you got there. They seem to do nothing but chat like they’re at a social event, stare at customers, mess around in a really over-the-top way.

They get paid £190 per person per week, and £1500 per bonus for a person getting work ( even if they didn’t contribute to you getting said job). Someone next to me said they might have a job, and they literally jumped up ( the A4e staff) in a really totally over the top way – it might sound cynical but it looked like they were thinking more of their bonus than the customer having a possible job offer!

really not happy with this company – it seems like a real rip off of tax payers hard earned cash – they do nothing to help you find work – you are left to your own devices at the computer, and if you succeed if finding a job they get a fat bonus, when you put in the hard work. They spend their whole time flouncing about, watching the customers, and chatting like they have all the time in the world – I know this is only my point of view and personal experience with A4e, but they seem incompetent and a rip off of tax payers money.

I really think A4E needs to be investigated by private detectives, under cover reporters – the BBC should do a documentary about the fact they hire actors for staff, who just play and mess around and dont actually help the customers find work, and then charge the tax payers so much money. This is really in the public interest to reveal the truth about this corrupt company!

    Ipswich Unemployed Action says:

    1. Yes, that is the problem – please read the latest blog post – almost 2000 allegations of fraud and over 200 full fraud investigations in first few years of New Deal.

It is rather ironic how the DWP no longer discloses such information.

    2. Yes, Well spotted I noticed that also. I think it means in addition to receiving benefits, she also received money from DWP as contracted out through A4e – I think they tried to word it as if she did a double fraud on the Government.
